Hip-hop icon Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter has expanded his status from simple rap star to certified mogul - especially since his so-called retirement in 2003. Besides continuing to release top-selling albums and selling out arena concerts, Jay has expanded his business portfolio with ownership in sports clubs like the NJ Nets. Now the buzz is the star is looking to add the legendary New York Yankees to his impressive profile. He sat down with London's Time Out magazine to talk about the venture and his experiences as a sought after businessman.

"I had invested in the Nets, and they (London soccer team Arsenal) asked me if I was interested in investing. But I get that from time to time.

"Someone told me yesterday that someone else had a piece of the New York Yankees - 'We wanna talk to you, yadda yadda yadda.' I mean, I love the Yankees so I'm in the middle of following that through, but sometimes it comes to be nothing.
