Thanks to everyone who got out and voted for President Elect Barack Obama. We really need change and we need it now.I can't believe in this day and that hatred for Blacks is so strong.I'm so happy that he won.People got out there and made their vote count. When i got to work the next day and was cheering with other coworkers who were equally happy as i was,you could see the tension in other people face and they did appreciate us sharing our joy.I wanted to run up and down the hallway yelling out Obama, but i work in a school,so i couldn't.Alot of the students were excited as well, some of them even carried posters into the building. It was a beautiful to see.I never had to stand in line to vote before.Times Square looked like it was New Years Eve.I was sadened to hear about the Black teenager in Staten Island who was attacked by a group of white guys, who proceeded to shout Obama as they were beating him.I was to see they were referred to as thugs in todays Daily News, thats a switch.I hope theres not a repeat of these incidents.I almost got into it this morning in the store with a Hispanic man who a problem with me wearing my Barack Obama t-shirt,but i chose to ignore him.It doesn't matter what people say,we wanted change and we got it.I'm proud of myself for taking part in this election process and making a difference.GOD bless everyone who chose to do the same.Lets continue to grow and support President Elect Obama.

Be active in your childrens education
To all parents that have school aged children,it is very important that you stay active in the school your child attends.I work in a school and i see some horror stories. There are TOO many children getting pushed into High school or on to the next grad level because adminstration doesn't want to deal with them the following year. You should keep in touch with your childs teacher on a regular basis, especially the High schools because the staff feels because the students are older that they don't have to inform the parent of the childs progress.Thats Bullcrap,it's in their contract .Also know your right to refuse a failing grade if the teacher never contacted you.I know because i 've been there and i had them change my daiughters grade. My daughter attends Fashion Industries and i was surprised at the lack of cooperation i received from her teachers. Her math teacher had the nerve to send me a letter telling me my daughter failed math the night before parent teacher night.I saved the envelope with the date the letter was sent in case i had to see the Princpal.I made her change the grade because this lady had my email address, cell, home, and job number and never contacted me about my daughters progress.I worked the graduation for the school where i work and i saw alot of the students i picked up on a constant basis for cutting and some who were suspended several times graduating. How could they pass if they were out so much. These children are our future and they need guidance in th worst way.My daughter is 16 and i fight hard to keep her on the right track. We have to stay on the children and keep up with these teachers.
