Footage From My Old Video Show "The Hip Hop Shop"
They Should All Get Lynched??? Wow!! Look & See!!
Who Do You Think YOU Are??
Hip Hop Vs. America (Part 2)
The grand finale!! How was it?? I can say Nelly has really grown as man! It's a shame that one video cost him an opportunity to save his sister's life! I agree that situation at Spellman should've been dealt with in a different way! Nelly also made a great point about we've lost a generation to the crack era, I know it's been said a million times already, but sometimes it's different when fans hear things from they're favorite artist. It's a daam shame that Universal records didn't want Nelly to speak on the panel! It's because he has an upcoming album, but at what point can an artist be a human being?? Is everything about a dollar?? I guess so, it's the record business!
Michael Eric Dyson! What more can say about this man, he's into to hip hop and he know he's craft well! Chuck D!! Major DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! Why wasn't he used more in this segment?? Public Enemy had a major part in hip hop! I used to read Public Enemy lyrics like a book, it was soooo full of knowledge! Please go back and listen to "It Takes A Nation Of Millions" & "Fear Of A Black Planet!" Everything they talked about then is still going on now and it's even worst! Public Enemy used to be the Black CNN of hip hop!
Stanley Crouch, I think he's just misunderstood. I think he means well, he just need a whole lot of interaction with hip hop artists! Melissa Ford, who cares?? Kim Osario spoke well and represented females in a very postive light. She even sued the Source for sexual harrassment and won her case!
B.E.T. can we please have more shows like this, BUT let's come up with a resolution, update the public on all the great things our artist are doing and come up with more postive programming like ummmm...... what ever happened to shows like "Teen Summit" & "Nightly News"?? When you say "Black Entertainment Television" you have a responsibility to help the "Black" community!
Comments?? Feedback?? Please leave it. I wanna know what YOU think??
Classic Footage of Nelly!!!
B.E.T. Hip Hop Vs. America!! What Do I Think????
I just finished looking at it and I have to admit I was ready to attack it even before it came on! So let's get to it! It was great!!! Why??? Because it created a good debate regardless of who's side you chose. It had a group of people together who came to fight but left smiling! LOL!
Let's pick out some points: Nelly said that black people only make up 20% of the US population! Okay, let's look at that, do you realize the black dollar is very powerful in the U.S. if used in the right way?? Most of us work for a company that we don't own and we spend it with companies who don't support our neighborhoods! It takes powerful people on that panel as well as those watching it to teach each other how to pool resources to get our neighborhoods out of bad conditions! Nelly also said he shouldn't be judged by a 4 minute video "Tipdrill" which at the end of it a credit card get swipped between the butt cheeks of a female. However, years from now that negative image will be used against him, they won't bring up all the great things he's done and the charity companies he has! This is no way an attack on Nelly, these are things to think about and that's what the elders of the panel are trying to express!
Mr. T.I.P. or T.I. (whoever was up there last night!) was talking about how he USED to live and I'll give him credit on that song where he tell the young'n don't live that lifestyle, BUT he just recently punched Chaka Zulu (Ludacris manager) in the face at the B.E.T. awards?? He has to not should take responsibility for his own actions now! He's an icon in the hood, the ladies love him and kids want to be that dude he was in "ATL!" Again, is this an attack on him?? No, but stop trippin!!!! P.S. Didn't he make a song "Live In The Sky" not to long ago?? I'm pretty sure those bullets were not intended for the person who died, so count your blessings......
I have to commend T.I. and Nelly for having the balls for commiting to B.E.T. to even be on the show because nobody would've watched it! I challenge B.E.T. to have bring back programming like that to teach hip hop's next generation something else besides throwing money, naked women, pouring out liquor, cars and selling drugs (The Wire)! Also, that dialogue has to continue even after the camera's stop rollin! Whether you like it or not, the black and other minorities are in a state of emergency and it's gonna take some of those dollars to be put toward pulling us out of the hole that HIP HOP dug!~
